Beauty and inspiration go hand-in-hand when painters come to the Estes Valley and the Northern Rockies to paint the parks this summer. Artists from across the nation to come together to paint on-location from Aug. 9 through 22, choosing what moment in time and special place to paint, including Rocky Mountain National Park and forest lands, St. Vrain and Big Thompson River canyons, views along the Peak to Peak Scenic Highway, and/or people and places in Estes Park. Given a 50 mile radius in which to paint, some artists may choose to document cityscapes found in the various front range communities of Colorado.

Once the sanctioned painting period ends on Friday August 22, an exhibition and sale of the fresh new works will be held Aug. 23 through Sept. 30, at the Cultural Arts Council of Estes Park Fine Art Gallery and Earthwood Collections in Estes Park, CO.

"The success of the event is the collaboration between galleries and the arts council," said Lynda Vogel, executive director of the arts council. "Working together with a common vision and a common goal, we continue raise the level of artistic excellence in Colorado.

"This seventh year event will feature many outstanding artists from across the country, gaining recognition with fine art collectors and placing Estes Park as a premier arts destination. The past events have patrons anxiously awaiting Open Day, and the Quick Draw and Auction have become a must with those who have a passion for fine art. The artists paint the glory and the majesty of Northern Colorado from the grandeur of high mountain valleys to the rivers below, capturing that unique moment in time and the beauty of Colorado on canvas, board and paper", notes Cultural Arts Council director Lynda S. Vogel.

"They come to paint, they come to learn, they come to share, and they come to experience.............................

For first time artists it is an exhilarating experience, especially those from other parts of the country. For others it is a chance to meet up with colleagues or paint that familiar vista one more time, only this time in different light or from a different angle. The community of Estes Park is proud to host this annual event, and all efforts are made to make each artist's stay a rewarding one".

The public is invited to watch the artists paint during the two week painting period of Aug. 9 to 22. All paintings will be event stamped and authenticated, and only works created and stamped during the painting period will be included in the exhibition and sale. Paintings will be available through September 30, at both participating galleries. Specific events are noted in the EPPA Events Calendar.

It is a great opportunity for collectors to acquire beautiful works of art. Come and stay in the Estes Valley opening weekend, spend extended time during our spectacular Fall season or come up for the day.
